Flying School

SkyVentures offers a wide range of training courses for Hang Gliding, Paragliding and ParaMotor with customized methodology as per the weather and terrain of Rajasthan and North India. It is in fact the only place to learn Hang Gliding in India. We use state of the art, “international technology Hydraulic payout Winch” which is known for smooth tows and safe launches. The clear flat land combined with small hills add on the charm of having best practice session during the courses. We offer the following courses:

HANG GLIDER TRAINING COURSES

Basic Course

5 days basic training course consist of teaching rigging the glider, pre flight inspection, ground handling, providing assisted launching and landing skills under supervision of experienced instructor who is also one of the most active hang glider pilot in India having international exposure.

Intermediate Courses

  1. Ridge Soaring – When a breeze blows directly up the slope of a hill there is an opportunity to remain airborne for a prolonged flight. Note, the air must be rising faster than the glider descends through the air. If this is the case then the glider, kept within this rising lift-band, will ascend until an equilibrium is reached where the speed of descent matches the rising of the air. On a good day this can be at a height of twice that of the particular hill. That is twice the hill height above take-off. A 500 ft hill when the air is of the right buoyancy and wind speed will provide as much as 1000 ft of height gain in which the pilot can swoop and soar. It is easily possible to fly all day long when the wind remains constant in strength and direction. However, unless the pilot is undertaking some duration challenge, it would be usual for individual flights to last about an hour, plenty of time to explore the available lift, to cruise around and enjoy the view.
  1. Thermal Soaring – Thermal lift is available during the warm hours which can take the pilot right up to the base of the clouds. These columns of warm rising air are best accessed from hill soaring, where they will drift towards and past the hill, taking the skilled pilots up and away with them. This process, thermal soaring, can continue all day until the sun’s rays become to low for convection to carry on. The record distance flown by thermal soaring now stands at over 600km!

PARAGLIDER TRAINING COURSES

Basic Course

This is a 5 days basic training course in which the experienced trainers teach the student ground handling, launching and landing skills from a gradually sloped small hill on school equipment. The aim of this course is to help you to achieve a level of confidence and skills needed to fly unassisted from slopes. A thorough theory component is an integral part of the Basic Course.

Please note that winch launching may be used but its use is at the sole discretion of the Chief Flying Instructor.

Intermediate Courses

  1. Ridge Soaring – Helping you make the most out of ridge lift including, scratching in light lift, getting comfortable in crowded air, face landing and much more.
  2. Basic Thermaling – How to read the conditions, efficient turning, feeling the air, which way to turn, how to take it to base.
  3. Intermediate Thermaling – A full towing course designed to get you comfortable and proficient on the end of the rope.

PARAMOTOR TRAINING COURSES

Basic Course

The 5-days Basic Paramotor Training Course is designed for pilots who have completed the basic course of paragliding. Training consists of ground handling practice, paramotor usage instruction, basic theory lectures allowing students to then progress onto the 6-day intermediate paramotor course.

While it is possible for many students of average ability to achieve a supervised rating in about 5 days of flying, some take longer. The most important point to remember is not to have any expectations as to how quickly you will learn. It will take as long as it takes. Soak up as much information as you can and make the most of your time with SkyVentures during the course.

Intermediate Course

The 6-day intermediate paramotor training course is designed for pilots who have completed the beginner course of paramotor. The course consists of more advanced training such as low level flying, precision landings, limited fuel tasks and cross country tasks. The intermediate course also covers more advanced navigation, and effects of the motor on the wing. At the end of the course pilots should be capable of flying a paramotor safely and competently without the need for an instructor.

Note: While it is possible for many students of average ability to achieve a supervised rating in the given days of the course, some take longer. The most important point to remember is not to have any expectations as to how quickly you will learn. It will take as long as it takes. Soak up as much information as you can and make the most of your time with SkyVentures during the course.
